Description
Project Description: The Undergarment Promise Project
The Undergarment Promise Project is a dignity-centered initiative that provides every client with brand-new undergarments during each visit to our center. Rooted in compassion, this program addresses one of the most fundamental, yet often overlooked, human needs.
Critical need
The Critical Need for New Undergarments
While we efficiently provide quality outerwear, new undergarments are rarely donated. For our clients—many of whom are rebuilding their lives from crisis or persistent poverty—this creates a significant hygiene and dignity gap. Case managers from our community partners, such as Wisconsin Community Services (WCS), consistently identify this as an urgent need for individuals starting over with nothing.
There is something profoundly personal about receiving new undergarments. This simple act does more than meet a physical need; it restores self-worth and confidence. It is a tangible affirmation that we care for the whole person, adding a transformative layer to our service.

Project Implementation & Impact
With decades of experience and a strong operational infrastructure, Fr. Gene’s Help Center is fully equipped to implement this project effectively. As funding is secured, shipments of new undergarments will be received at our Donation Center, sorted by our dedicated volunteers, and made available on our shopping floor.
This project is designed as a recurring cycle. With many clients returning every three months, The Undergarment Promise ensures they receive continuous support. This consistent provision reinforces their dignity with every visit, reminding them that they are worthy of care and respect as they work toward stability.
As our Executive Director, Jason Wilson, affirms: “Faith unites us. Love drives us. Together we bring hope to tomorrow.” The Undergarment Promise Project is a direct expression of this belief, transforming a basic essential into a powerful gesture of hope and human kindness.
