Providing dignity through free clothing to people in need within the Milwaukee community
A transformed community where all people have access to clean, dignified clothing in which they feel confident
Father Gene's Help Center relies on volunteers like YOU to connect people in need with dignified clothing. Volunteers are needed Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
It takes a strong team of volunteers to keep the center and donations organized. Sorting volunteers unpack donations, organize the clothing by size and style, and restock the racks and shelves.
To continue serving over 1000 families each year, we must fill the clothing orders for those in need. Packing volunteers shop around the center for the items requested in the right style and size, and pack the orders for client pick up.
Front Room Volunteers (New Opportunities!)
Hospitality volunteers are the first face that a guest will see when they come to Father Gene's Help Center. Their role is to create a welcoming and hospitable atmosphere for all guests - clients, donors, and visitors.
Check Out Volunteers
Check Out volunteers will help conclude the client shopping experience. They assist clients with check out by counting and folding the items a client has selected.
Appointment Taker Volunteers
These volunteers are comfortable on the phone and manage the client shopping experience by scheduling appointments.
Specialty Room Volunteers
Specialty Room volunteers assist clients with selecting specialty items. These are limited quantity items such as shoes, winter coats, socks, and underwear.
Restock volunteers restock shelves and racks as they are emptied and make sure that the main shopping area has been restocked at the end of the shift.
Floater volunteers are cross trained in all front room positions to fill in gaps on any given day. They serve as an extra set of hands in the center and help with different tasks as needed.
